4500 Like Way

Every elevator, escalator and lift on the state's list has a certificate with an expiration date, renewed after an inspection by a licensed inspector. Expired means the date on the state's list has passed; due soon means it passes within 90 days.

The state's list shows a new certificate only after the state issues it, so a building inspected recently can still read expired here. Units expired for two years or more are often removed or out of service while the state keeps the record.

Some elevators also have a 5-year test due date, for a test done every five years on top of the yearly inspection. The state's own search has the official record.
