The violation nobody notices until test day

Fire recall — firefighters' service — is the system that returns an elevator to a designated floor when the building alarm activates (Phase I) and gives firefighters manual control from inside the car (Phase II). It sits at the seam between two trades: the elevator controller on one side, the building fire alarm on the other. That seam is where it quietly breaks.

The classic case: the alarm company replaces or reworks the fire panel, and the connection to the elevator controller never gets re-landed. Everything looks normal until someone initiates recall and nothing happens — and now it's a violation on your report.

What we do

  • Fire recall testing — we test Phase I recall and Phase II in-car operation, find where the sequence breaks, and correct it.
  • Fire alarm reconnection — re-landing the connections between the building's alarm system and the elevator controller so recall, alternate-floor recall, and hat-light signaling actually work.
  • Shunt trip work — where sprinklers protect elevator equipment, power must be shut down before water flows. We install and correct shunt trip breakers and the wiring behind them.
  • Generator & ATS coordination — buildings with emergency power need elevators to behave correctly on generator transfer. We coordinate the elevator side with the generator and transfer-switch side so the sequence works and keeps working.

Most fire-recall violations persist because the elevator company points at the alarm company and the alarm company points back. We work the seam itself — elevator controller, alarm interface, and the electrical in between — which is usually what it takes to close the item.
